The Piven Theatre Workshop has grown, over the past 35 years, to be a professional theatre and a nationally respected actor training center. The organization supports an Equity theatre, annually serves 1,000 students, both children and adults, grants approximately $30,000 in needbased scholarships and maintains extensive mentorship and outreach programming. The Piven family has been designated "Chicago's first family of acting" and founders Byrne & Joyce Piven have been named Artists of the Year by the Chicago Tribune and received numerous awards for their work in theatre and education, including a Joseph Jefferson Lifetime Achievement Award.
